The Special Operations Company is actually made up officially of Companies F, G, H and I giving it a relative force of 200 men and women engaging in selective work inside the Imperial City. Officers within the SOC are also authorized to contract additional agents as needed for a project or action. These mercenaries do not officially act under the banner of the Empire but do take the Empress's Favor.
These operations may include the undercover infiltration of criminal organizations, scouting expedition, and during times of war, espionage and sabotage missions.
Due to the nature of the assignment, most members of the SOC are nominally posted to other regiments throughout the Imperial army so as to provide needed cover and deniability.
