The story began with The Emerald Fury split:
- Sybalia 'Syb' Anning and her mother were having it out at the shop Woodbury and Daughter, Seamstresses where Elizabeth Annabelle Anning (n. Nodran) was making it clear that Syb should be grateful for this opportunity.
- Meanwhile at the Taboo and Voodoo the rest of the party was shuffled out quickly by the owner with concerns that something had been unleashed.
- Syb left the shop eventually, without her uniform but in the company of Serenity Woodbury who has been hired by Syb's mother to be her valet.
- The party reunited and were approached by Anianna Hornpipe Sweetwater, the Imperial Court Composer and Organist. She asked what title the heroic party should be introduced as, and for some details to help her compose an appropriate theme for them.
- After a long night of debating on company names, the group was summoned by Lady General Theodora Whiteraven to a meeting where she asked them to search a particular house for possible evidence that the owner is the head of the The Rouge Gang
- While talking to the general, Syb brought up her commission, shared her full name and was told that she was "Commander Syballia Mary Anning of Her Majesty's Leviathan the HotSpur."
