College of Arrows

Bard College

The College of Arrows is an alternative school of study to the College of Swords, where students perform with incredible feats of martial accuracy. Bards in this college are called many names, such as deadshots, sharpshooters, or trickshots. These bards make use of special arrows to inspire awe, create wonder, and even deliver their spells.

Their talent with weapons inspires many deadshots to lead double lives. Some find themselves traveling with performing troupes as a cover for assassination or blackmail. Others may serve as legendary mercenaries whose very presence can change the tides of war.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you join the College of Arrows at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with shortbows and light crossbows. If you're proficient with a simple or martial ranged weapon, you can use it as a spellcasting focus for your bard spells.

Fighting Style

At 3rd level, you adopt a particular style of fighting as your specialty. Choose one of the following options. You can't take a Fighting Style option more than once, even if you later get to choose again.

Trick Shot

At 3rd level, you learn to execute special shots with your incredible shooting skills.

Whenever you take the Attack action on your turn and hit a target with a ranged weapon attack, you can use one of the following Trick Shot options of your choice. You can only use one Trick Shot option per turn.

Astonishing Shot.If the target is an archery object such as a target ring, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to make a Dexterity (Performance) check and use that result in place of the attack roll. You also add a bonus to the roll equal to the number you roll on the Bardic Inspiration die.

Binding Shot. If the target is a creature, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to cause the arrow to deal extra damage to the target and halve its speed until the end of its next turn. The damage equals the number you roll on the Bardic Inspiration die.

Dazing Shot. You can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to cause the arrow to deal extra damage to the target you hit. The damage equals the number you roll on the Bardic Inspiration die, and the next attack roll against the target before the start of your next turn gains a bonus equal to the roll.

Richochet Shot. You can expend one of your Bardic Inspiration to cause the arrow to deal extra damage to the target you hit and to one creature you can see within 10 feet of the original target. The damage equals the number you roll on the Bardic Inspiration die.

Spell Shot. You can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to cast a spell through your arrow to the target. The spell must have a range of touch, have a casting time of 1 action, and cannot deal damage.

Extra Attack

Starting at 6th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.

Trickshot Mastery

Starting at 14th level, whenever you use a Trick Shot option that deals extra damage, you can roll a d6 and use it instead of expending a Bardic Inspiration die.
