Continued from Habbakuk bounds Harriet and Aparret for every
As the bees came out of the well, and flew into the walls. The flowers becoming their new home. Harriet was was disgusted with Aparret and screamed, "you killed them for nothing." Something had changed in her. Her rage connected to him in a way that had not been possible before. He slammed to the floor and the blessing of the god Habbakuk went over both of them. She flew over to him like his queen, and him, her drone, knowing it was not that simple or true. His eyes stared at her with understanding. She lingered, hovering in his space to punish him before strutting her wings and flying back into the hive pack.
looking across her hives with its couple of missing spaces, she understood it on a new level. She scanned her small domain and its set of disposable objects for Aparret, all easily grabbed and toss. Her task here would be to make them thrive until tossed. Working with each of her now drone like queens she could make them more hardy, able to have the hive survive the sacrifice. She would not be just a tool like these other lesser bees. The queens that were left came out to view her, initially trying to show their power and rage. She saw to the core of it, seeing fear more than anything else. Like a butterfly coming out of a chrysalis, her role as an advanced helper for them, just changed to their monarch. With a bee dance and sending out some pheromones, the queens cowered, backed off their stances and headed back into their respective hives.
With all the queens back in their fiefdoms, she examined the rest of the pack. She was drawn to the center where the wax plug was. It was dripping away into the nothingness leaving a path or tunnel, the path seemed lit with small floor placed sconces, and a the tunnel stretched out before her that has a shape and walls that were reminiscent of a bee hive, with its six sided pattern and almost paper like walls. It was created for her or from her, she could not tell.
Each step through the tunnel changed her from the inside and out. The power of Habbakuk penetrated her making her even more different with each step. The tunnel ended in a door. She reached out a hand to open the door. It became clear some of the changes, as she looked at her own hand, a five fingered attachment with a thumb, marking just one of the many changes as she now stood on two legs. She looked looked over her shoulder seeing wings. Feeling relieved she buzzed them to power and lifted off the ground. she finished opening the door, feeling as each of her new fingers slower wrapped the handle, feeling her wrist turn the handle to reveal a room beyond.
The initial thought of a room, turned into multiple rooms; doors and halls and even a spiral staircase heading up to a loft. It was not a big space but for her it felt enormous. She immediately felt like she was home. The walls were the same off yellow hive color. It was like being in a fresh cell and she felt like a pupa just coming out of the its cell from the honeycomb. The place mostly looked like it was made for Aparret, with humanoid amenities, with one strange blank window on one wall. It had a kitchen, that in this form she understood how to use. Although she did not know what or how to cook, she knew she would do that here at some point.
She peered through an open door, seeing a bed, wardrobe, shelves and another of those black windows. seeing two doors she reached for the one next to the bedroom to find a bathroom with objects her master would never use, like a sink and bath. The last door was across the room. She started to walk, but decided to fly across the room. Her wings lifted her with a clumsy unease moving towards the door, finally smashing her into it with her lack of current control.
She stood to open the door. Beyond the waxy, papery door is a whole new world. She stepped out mouth agape and refusing to close as her head and body spun to view this new world. She looked back towards her home, turning in a spiraling turn coming close to falling. Her home was one of many shaped like a small hive. The sounds of people moving around her crashed into her with is noises and variety. Humanoids of all types walked and moved around her. The overwhelming cacophony of sounds and sights started to overcome her, and she started to spin faster and sink to the ground.
Before colliding with the ground a couple of gentle fur covered arms caught her. Still spinning she looked up to the owner of these arms. This creature looked like a humanized ferret, soft, brown and gray fur covering her entire body, a long nose or short snoot ending shifting nose that moved with each breath, and teeth that could tear flesh. She was dressed in a cute orange and peach summer dress. With a voice that was as gentle as her arms the ferrit buttonholed Harriet, "ahhh, you must be new here. let me get you a some food, and drink and try to answer any questions you might have." Harriet's weight shifted in her arms, and with a slight squeeze she offered her name, "My name is Jinxie, I work for a group that helps new comers."
Harriet's voice half broken came out in bits, "I... Harriet, ... Drink Good, ... what... is this place?"
"This is the Nexus"
