07. We don't talk about Bluto

08. januára 2023

Apparently, the party was drunk last time in Vallaki, as they find out there are more stores here than previously thought. There is the Cracked Anvil (blacksmith), Lakresh Tannery, Endless Delight Clothery (fancy clothes), Vallaki Wagon Repair, Apothecary and The Stock Yard (general store). Kokmadon made a deal with the blacksmith to repair the plate armor he found in exchange for a platinum necklace we found.

The next morning, the group travelled to the church in Vallaki, dedicated to the Morninglord. The church looked old, had cracks in the walls and was in general more a wreck than an actual building. Nonetheless the party found the priest, called Father Lucien. When asked if Ireena Kolyana could find safe haven in this church, he declined. He explained that a holy relic, the Sacred Bones of St. Andral, were stolen a few days ago. Without those, the church was no longer protected by their divine power. Father Lucien confided in them that he told Jeska, an orphan boy, about these powers, and he suspects that the boy told Milovich, a teenager who works for the priest.
In addition to this talk, they discussed the problem of Kevdormu and his third eye. Unless the fact that this is work of the devil, Father Lucien couldn't help us more. He suggested to visit the Abbey of Saint Markovia and ask The Abbot about this problem. The party thanked them for his help and travelled further towards the Vistani Camp near Vallaki.

It doesn't take long before they arrive at a huge clearing in the forest. They could see houses who were built into the hill, and on top of the hill wagons circled around a big tent. They could see Dusk Elves near the houses and the smell of horses and wine from above. Recognizing the wagons as the ones they have already seen in other Vistani encampments, they moved towards the big tent.

When entering the tent, they saw a man bound to a pole. Screaming filled the tent as the he was getting whipped by an older gentleman, called Luvash. Another man, Aregal said that this man lost the daughter of Luvash, and therefore was being punished. She was called Arabelle, a girl of 7 years old with dark hair and tanned skin. The party offred there help with the missing child, believing this was foretold by Madame Eva. As Kokmadon offered to heal Aleksei so he could tell what he remembered, he refused as he deserved what he was getting. He told them that she regularly visits Vallaki although Vistani are forbidden there and plays with the children of the Orphanage. After Luvash gave them a necklace so Arabelle would trust them, they travelled back to Vallaki to talk to the orphans.

They were able to talk to Jeska. He said he knows Arabelle and that they often play together. He hasn't seen her for a few days though. He remembered that last time they were playing, a man with a straw hat were watching him. He doesn't remember when Arabelle left, but the man with the straw hat was gone as well. After receiving a piece of cake from Sierra Del Panadero, the party went to talk to Milovich. He told us that the man with the straw hat is called Bluto and that he is the town drunk. He pointed us towards his house. Unfortunately he wasn't home. His neighbour Camille however knew that Bluto was gone fishing. She also told us that he was boasting about his luck with fishing would return. So up to the docks we went.

Arriving at the docks, they saw one other rowboat in the water, and they saw someone with a fishing line. This person took a sack, who appeared to be moving, and threw it in the river. Fearing for the worst, the party handled quickly. Kokmadon jumped in the boat and took the group closer in the lake. Grayson Black used a spell to better find the sack in the water. Sierra Del Panadero didn't hesitate, jumped into the water and turned into a giant frog. Using some tongue action, she got the sack out of the water. Narmo and Kevdormu used their knowledge to save Arabelle from death by drowning, as she was indeed in the sack. Meanwhile Kokmadon and Grayson Black looked at the man in the boat. As he didn't respond to anything, they both feared the worst and used spells to find out if this man was secretly a fiend or something else. Turns out, he was just drunk beyond reason. Luckily clerics have a remedy for that as well, so Kokmadon cured him. He told us that his life is a mess, and shared his hopes that if he sacrificed this child his luck would return. They all went back to the docks.

Cue in random deur at the docks, and a battle followed with the deur and the druid + blights behind it. A quick battle follows where the party defeats their attackers. They bring Bluto back to the town where the guards assured the group he will be put away, for a couple of days at least. Back at the Vistani encampment, Luvash was grateful for finding his daughter and let the party pick something from their treasure wagon. Why not the big amulet shaped like a sun that looks like an important plot item holy symbol? Borrowing a pearl from the Vistani, Kokmadon learns this is the 'Symbol of Ravenkind', a powerful tool against vampires. The party rests in the camp.

The next morning they travel back to Vallaki after a quick breakfast. They look for Milovich to talk about the Sacred Bones. He is rather silent, but after a spell by Kevdormu he confesses that he stole them for old man Hendrich as he needed the money for his siblings. We promised him that we won't tell anyone about his crime and moved on towards the coffin maker. With the con of needing a coffin for a child, they finally got in. While the males distracted old man Hendrich, Narmo and Sierra Del Panadero went looking for the bones. The druid casted a spell to find the bones, and noticed they are upstairs. The ranger used her stealth skills to move silently upstairs. Some quick researching later, and they find the bones in a secret compartment in the wardrobe. However when Narmo took the bag (did I mention Sierra Del Panadero is a squirrel right now?), the druid noticed that some magical ward went off. They both turned around to leave as they saw 2 vampire spawn running towards them.
