Training in skills

Minimum lifestyle: Modest

To learn proficiency in a skill requires finding an appropriate trainer who will teach you, and then a period of dedicated time to train in it.

Finding a trainer

Resources

Finding a trainer requires 1 week of downtime and 25 gold.

Resolution

To determine the level of the teacher, roll a stat check for the same stat as the skill you wish to learn. You may add a bonus equal to your lifestyle modifier plus the number of weeks you have already trained divided by 5 (round down), up to a maximum of +5.

Success: You find a trainer that’s willing to start training you.

The length of your training program is reduced by the stat modifier of the ability that applies to the skill.

You may attempt to find a better trainer after every 5 weeks of training.

  • If you switch to a faster training program, you keep all of the time you have trained in that skill so far.

Failure: You don’t find a new trainer
