Currently ruled by a southern Grenwalian Royal, more specifically by the Archduke of Oesterholm, but existing outside the Grenwalian Imperial system, Hugan was once known as the Shield of Liwilai, as it successfully repelled many invasions from the east in the past. Hugan is known to be proud of its traditions, but also for having picked up many influences from its Lagetia neighbors in the Osé Sultanate to the east.
Worth noting is that in the east of Hugan, a mountainous area called Yondsylva, is a place frequently beset and plagued by various creatures of the night, such as Vampires, Lycanthropes and even the occasional undead or fiend from the lower planes. Many religious orders that try to keep these threats in check make their home here.
