Ilmater is the Sancstorylian deity of martyrdom, perseverance and suffering, but also of compassion and endurance. Popular amongst the downtrodden, the poor and the sick, Ilmater is often described as a deity who, if he could, he would take on all the suffering in the world just to spare mortals from it. His clergy definitely does its part in trying to alleviate any suffering that they come across.
Many in the Ilmatari faith are healers and doctors who treat illnesses and physical ailments, but also give emotional support to the grieving and depressed. Many also would dedicate their life to right wrongs and injustices; more often than not in a peaceful manner. Nonetheless, the Ilmatari clergy is also known to be tolerant of other viewpoints, never judgmental, and very rarely impeding their desires on others.
