Mayor Leng employed you to find the source of cattle and farmer deaths around Lylenaes. Victims were stabbed with small, pointed objects and sometimes found with bits of wood in the wounds. After questioning, the farm of Bali Walda is closest to the forest where attacks seem to be originating.
The Mayor has offered 500 gold to split among anyone putting an end to the attacks.
Freshly-drawn map in hand everyone sets out for Walda's homestead. Heading east out of town takes you along the street informally called Miner's Way, no doubt due to the bunkhouses for workers and smeltery which line the road. After an hour or so of uneventful walking you arrive at Bali Walda's.
Before you stretch multiple fields laid out for grazing cattle and goats. A modest farmhouse sits apart from half a dozen thatched huts and a larger barn. Small vegetable patches dot the areas between huts but only look large enough to supply a few mouths. The majority of production here must be in meat for sale or trade.
Several farm hands are taking advantage of the mid-morning coolness to finish their daily tasks. They all pause to take in the curious sight of a Human, Hin, Gnome, and Lizardfolk strolling down the road toward them.
