2.0 Briefing & Directives

ARRIVAL

The next afternoon at 2 p.m., the Agents land at the nearest airport (Austin, Texas) and each make their own way independently to Lockhart to meet with their Delta Green (Outlaws) control officer David Yow at the post office headquarters in Baughman’s city.

LATE

Decide who is going to be late - roll for luck.  One Agent is late, chair empty, Control Officer David Yow is staring at it, silent, unmoving by the window.  A Black duffel bag in the corner behind him.  Silence is deafening - doesn’t feel right to talk.  On the table is coffee and fresh donuts (ras choc)

When the Agents meet with their Control Officer David Yow, keep it brief and make it obvious that there is additional information that is being withheld from them. They are on the low end of 'Need To Know. Likewise, have David Yow emphasise the need for discretion and secrecy, lest there be consequences.

David Yow, "nice of you to join us".

Throws "Operation CLEANUP" folder on table in middle, watches whomever takes folder has operational command and is now cell leader.

" Clyde Baughman was an active Delta Green agent from 1967 to 1970, and an infrequent “Friendly” during the late Nineties. Four days ago he died in his apartment of a massive heart attack. Delta Green has learned of this and has tasked the nearest available agents to conduct a sweep of his apartment to remove any evidence of the
organization."

David Yow gives the Agents a cursory dossier on Clyde Baughman (see -- HANDOUT A - Dossier on Baughman, page 48) and a key to Clyde Baughman's Apartment.

DIRECTIVES

The control officer gives the Agents the following instrustions:

  • Proceed to residence of Clyde Baughman.
  • Remove any evidence of Delta Green’s activities.
  • Baughman’s heirs are expected within 48 hours. Make sure everything is clean by then.
  • Involve no one else in this operation.
  • Meet in the same conference room in 48 hours with a report.
  • If you find signs that Baughman violated Delta Green security, report them.

EQUIPMENT

The Delta Green control officer gives them two Federal Agency IDs (they should pass low levels of scrutiny), a car (Beat-up Volvo 940 with broken tail light and dirty as fuck) , with an annonymized BURNER phone with which they can call him - THERE'S ONLY ONE NUMBER IN THE PHONE.  Any other equipment on request can be organised, but will mean a short delay to them leaving - use the equipment list from Toolkit - Agent Equipment
