The King is revered by the people for combat prowess and political strength, however, they are rarely seen in public.
Despite having the title of King, the ruler of Alterra is an elected position, being chosen by the people upon the current King's demise or resignation. The King's chosen Vassal rules the nation in the interim between votes.
