While technically a clade of animals that led to modern mammalia, synapsids were the largest terrestrial animals of the Permian period and survived into the early Triassic. While technically mammals are a type of Synapsid, many people keep them marked separately for ease of mind. Nevertheless, mammals are a type of Synapsid Therapsid.
