Giant wolf spider

Much like other spiders, wolf spiders do not behave with others and prefer to live solitary lives hunting small to mid game. Unlike most spiders wolf spiders do not make spin webs and only use silk for lining their nests.

Wolf spiders are named from hunting similarly toward actual wolves. Stalking prey before a sudden ambush as opposed to all other groups lying in wait to ambush prey instead. While normal wolf spiders hunt ants and spiders, giant wolf spiders instead hunt down animals usually around the size of a house cat.

Surprisingly, giant wolf spiders prove to be very trainable despite their normal species lack of intelligence. Because of this, groups of rangers will choose to use giant wolf spiders as beast companions. Many of these tend to be drow and prefer using the venom the wolf spiders produce to incapacitate bounties that require being taken alive.

Alongside these ettercaps are notable for using wolf spiders as attack dogs or scouts for attacking prey.
