Graceful swimmers.

The great auk is completely flightless and can run no faster than a human's walking pace. However, great auks make up for these shortcomings with exceptional skills and grace in water. Able to hold their breath for 15 minutes and can outswim merfolk with ease. With this amazing speed in the ocean they live feed on fish and small crustaceans they can catch while maintaining close to coastlines usually around 1 mile away.
