Mahambas are a species of uniquely freshwater mosasaur. Unlike the other freshwater mosasaurs like Pannoniasaurus, mahambas are just as large as their ocean going relatives measuring up to fifty feet long and weighing several tons. A notable distinction with these other than their freshwater behavior is that they mosasaurs have large osteoderm covered backs that can absorb a massive amount of damage like a natural shield. Some locals have prized the hides of these for the strong armor that can be crafted from them.
Called many things, breaker of boats, breaker of spines, the mahamba is a large species of freshwater mosasaur with a crocodilian like back.
