Freshwater Mosasaurs.

Mahambas are a species of uniquely freshwater mosasaur. Unlike the other freshwater mosasaurs like Pannoniasaurus, mahambas are just as large as their ocean going relatives measuring up to fifty feet long and weighing several tons. A notable distinction with these other than their freshwater behavior is that they mosasaurs have large osteoderm covered backs that can absorb a massive amount of damage like a natural shield. Some locals have prized the hides of these for the strong armor that can be crafted from them.

Ill Tempered.

Mahambas are very aggressive animals towards any boats in areas they swim through, breaching from the surface and grappling the riders off canoes and other small boats. As for larger river mounts they usually assault the boats themselves and try to make them sink by some method.

As for other animals mahambas are just as intolerant, attacking other large animals that come into their waterways and often having massive clashes with spinosaurs over the rights of the marshes they reside within. Some tribes of lizardfolk have been known to use them as a guard dog over their tribes, swimming around the riverways the villages are built upon and using that to deter intruders.
