Nightfire Wyrm

Light is a precious resource in swamps, and nightfire wyrms thrive by absorbing what little is available. Under cover of darkness, their scales ripple in a myriad of hues, mimicking anything from a bonfire’s glow to the bobbing of a distant torch. These illusions guide desperate travelers deeper into their territory where the wyrm’s invisibility and nimbleness grant it a deadly advantage.

Nightfire wyrms aren’t the only dragon to claim dominion over swampland. Orange and black dragons and nightfire wyrms have been known to feud over territory for centuries, manipulating small armies of goblinoids, kobolds, and adventurers against one another in bids for supremacy. Though a nightfire wyrm loathes direct combat with such a fearsome rival, it is content to hide from and beguile a black dragon that ventures into its swampy lair, striking only when its blow is most advantageous.
