Weyland is a land that is still under the sway of the Fey, but their power waxes and wanes. Weyland has seen the Eastern Kingdom, the Northerners and the Westerners come and go. But none held it for too long. It is a place of forests, hills and marshes in the south and ice-clad peaks to the north. The weather has a very strong hold over this land, mist and rain cling to it like a blanket. The Seelie and Unseelie courts hold much sway. Many an unwary or foolish traveller has disappeared taken by Unseelie Fey. In recent times a pact between the High King of Weyland and The Seelie court has done much to calm this dangerous place. But now men have more time, they turn on each other with petty squabbles. Since the death of the High King a few years ago the seven Kingdoms have allied and fought with each other for the right to lay claim to the High Kings Throne.
Lying to the far West and North of the Western Kingdoms it is broken down into seven fiefdoms these are Morax, Solas, Orias in the North. Albion in the midlands and Elidor, Beleth, Flauros in the South.
The capital of Weyland is Vale City which sits out above The Great Falls. This testament to Eldren architecture on a grand scale sits almost at the centre of the Seven Kingdoms and is on such a grand scale. It is one of the two remaining Eldren structures in Weyland the other is the massive bridge at Bridges Market in the southern kingdom of Elidor.
Weyland was founded over 800 years ago when Neustrian and Ostland colonists migrated to the region as the influence of the Fey began to wane.
Numerous petty fiefdoms rose that fought each other over territory and resources. In order to stop the almost constant wars between these Fiefdoms the Seelie and Unseelie Courts kidnapped the leaders of each fiefdom and they were put through a series of tests to find out who would lead them all, a High King was chosen and the rest slaughtered as a warning. Due to the geography of Weyland the fiefdoms had already chosen regents in the absence of their Kings and Queens. The new High King was then presented by the Courts and it was agreed that under the High King that a treaty between the fiefdoms would be agreed upon.
The High King disappeared 11 years ago and although many have attended the ceremony at the Mid Sumer Festival at Bridges Market none have made it through the selection.
Once again the "Kingdoms" have now begun border disputes.
There are vast stretches of uncivilised land that allow for a huge variety of Fauna and Flora. Mega-fauna is still found on the High Moor and isolated valleys: mammoths, mastodons, sabre-toothed cats, glyptodons, ground sloths, giant elk, cave bears, and short-faced bears being the most common.
Apart from Vale City and parts Flauros, technology is still very limited throughout Weyland. Its people live a simpler life, it is a bountiful land and although deadly it is not hard to find the resources needed.
Slavery is extremely rare in Weyland having been outlawed a long time ago; however visiting Tilians, Ostlanders and Rividians do sometime bring slaves with them. The Minos Brotherhood use narcotics and magic to create unwilling slaves to do their bidding.
