Until recently, House Harmthane was not one of the major houses on Frostorm. All of that changed when Giorg Harmthane ascended to the House Head position. Since then, House Harmthane has risen in prominence amongst the other houses.
House Harmthane is now the Grand State, location of the Royal Seat.
State Harmthane has long been the hub of trades and crafting on Frostorm. With over half of the year spent in cold, snow, and ice, most of Harmthane's citizens were encouraged to practice professions indoors. This has led Harmthane, and primarily Reddoth, the capital city, to focus its efforts on crafts and industry. Harmthane was the first to combine magic and technology to build factories and quickly established a monopoly on manufacturing.
