Origin Orbs

Simulation Lore

Origin orbs are a paradox to science and math when it comes to this world. A small, pearl shaped item no bigger than your hand is capable of completely rewriting your dna structure if handled and used correctly. The appearance of an origin orb is usually the same, due to the process of creation always having to be based off of harnessing the 7 natural elements found in the world - (Fire, Earth, Water, Air, Electricity, Soul, Void).

The orb is divided into an inner, swirling buildup of magic that gives off a beige/yellow color, and the outer ring is a rocky blue shell. The entire orb is covered by a glossy ceramic-like coating that strongly condenses the large amount of magic built into its core. While it seems very sturdy physically, and can survive general blunt force, misusage during a ritual, exposure to any form of magic, or even something as little as leaving it in the wrong room for too long could trigger a adverse effect.

Origin orbs are used correctly when a individual unlocks the casing in a ritual, which can either be simple or complicated. Whether it’s something like being isolated and concentrating in the dense energy inside the orb until it seemingly speaks to you, or setting up a immense ritual ground to yield a higher percentage of success. Regardless of how it’s power is invoked, the transformation always seems to be the same -

The casing around the orb cracks open, turning the gaseous buildup of elemental magic into a goo-like substance. While the orb may only be as large as your hand, the odd mass can seemingly grow to an indefinite size, and seems sentient. It will latch onto the user, slowly spreading over the users entire body, covering every single inch of it. Once covered, the user can almost hear whispers, dozens of thoughts being sent into their mind almost as if the goo is speaking directly to them. When it figures out what the designated change is, the goo will begin to reshape the users body to the new species before almost absorbing into their skin.

It has been reported that this goo is capable of melting down a users legs and remaking them into a merging tail, or constructing wings out of itself. While these reports seem painful and deadly, it is said that the user feels no pain, only a numbing warmth coming from the bodies reconstruction. The substance seems to emit a euphoric or “high” feeling, seemingly due to its control over the body at the time. Because of this fact, individuals often utilize origin orbs as a psychedelic…. This is not advised.

If a orb is misused, the casing will shatter abruptly and violently, and the goo-like substance will not be able to properly change the body. It will still latch on and cover it, but the reported “speaking” will be completely gibberish and confusing. It will still emit the same euphoric feeling, but will disrupt the body in a large and incompletely reported ways. These disruptions include -

Blood transfusion (demonification, both minor and major… half/half species)

Unneeded parts (wings on a merling, gills on a deer)

Memory loss (slight or full)

Unwanted, unneeded, or wrong species transformations

Insanity (including forms of feral tendencies)

It is important that origin orbs are handled with care, even if they are being utilized for a unforgettable high.

The recipe for origin orbs… only the richest and smartest should attempt to partake in the creation and usage of such a relic….

(Origin Orbs allow you to change you "coding" to test what will happen to your body outside of the Simulation. For now, no adverse effects have been noticed...)
