?: So what happened, Matthew?

Matthew: So we went to the lab to test this new non-lethal I made.

??: Was there anyone else with you?

Matthew: No. The other scientists went on break.

??: Why did you proceed with the test?

Matthew: I didn't. She just went to the table with prototypes of different devices.

?: And?

Matthew: She leaned on the table and must have turned one of the deivces on somehow because she faded out of reality.

??: Just like that?

Matthew: Yea.

??: Sounds like one of the devices was on...

?: Mhm. We might need to search for the device.

Matthew: So... Am I free to go now?

??: No. We need you to locate the device.

?: We also need to hide this from Blackbird.

Matthew: Why hide information from what's basically an Cloaker on steroids.

?: That's exactly the reason.

??: Do you want a death wish?

Matthew: No...

??: Then this is the reason why we need to keep this a secret from Blackbird.

?: Especially since this is one of her Agent's going missing.

??: Well. Let's start searching for the device.

Lost?

Blackbird was wandering around the forest looking for fire wood for the fire place.

She knew that it wasn't night a few minutes ago and that it should still be day.

She also knew that it should still be cold and snowy, and yet the ground was green.

She noticed that the trees had changed from a coniferous forest to a deciduous forest.

It was a very sudden change in the environment and yet she kept on going.

So, why is it that she's in the middle of a seemingly random forest in the middle of the night.

It was a very simple answer, and yet she ignored all the signs of a simple fact that seemed to be consistent with her.

Another God wanted her to be here in this place for a reason.

Does it help that she only walked for a few minutes and was already being watched by a mysterious being.

No, not really.

She only saw a glance at the person and it was all she needed to know.

'Not again.' Was the only thought after the brain processed what she saw.

She stopped walking and leaned on the tree closest to her.

Her hands moved to a pouch on her belt and pulled out an unknown number of sweet berries.

She tossed them on the ground in front of her and then walked back.

She did not need confirmation on the person.

All she wanted to do was to leave; quickly and silently before they decided to follow her.

And yet why was it that she was hearing another set of footsteps?

She suddenly stilled as that thought came.

A sensation of something colliding with her leg and an audible squeak was heard.

'...What the...'

Slowly, she looked down at her leg and saw a young child with 4 light blue fox tails with white at the ends, a pair of fox ears and light blue hair with stars in them. It was malnourished, dirty and had torn clothes on.

Well, at least she had an idea on who sent her here and why.

And what's with the Gods sending their young patrons and children to her.

She's not an walking orphanage for them.

And yet the fox child was clinging on to her leg as if it was a life or death situation.

When did the child start clinging on to her?

She did not know but she should do something about it.

And she did by trying to pry it off of her leg.

She gave up after realising that the child has a death grip on her leg.

Well, looks like she is going to walk back to an cabin with a child and no fire wood.

She doubts the child will survive the cold.

Blackbird started to backtrack to where her cabin is.

When the land suddenly changed back to the familiar white snow and evergreen forest, the child started shivering.

Blackbird having been in this situation before took off her combat scarf and started wrapping it around the child.

The child was shivering slightly less than before.

It wasn't ideal but it was the best thing she could do in this situation before starting the walk to the cabin.
