Yelix's Last Stop

Shop

The merchant Yelix, owns this shop, located on King's Road, the main street that runs from the gates of Balic towards the White Palace. The Last Stop is easily picked out among the rather drab building around it, as the window contains an assortment of unique articles, such as bright blue tunic (which Yelix swears provide excellent protection from the desert sun) and dyed Kank bones, which are simply there for decoration, but he is more than happy to sell them as wind chimes, positive that they have increased his business, but willing to part with them for a fair price. Yelix's (Yel is pronounced like yellow) sells supplies for travel, but no weapons or armor. He also sells necessities in Balic, such as hankerchiefs for protection from the constant silt in the air, and brooms for shop owners to brush off the streets in front of their shops. The Last Stop is well named - it is the last shop that most travelers visit before leaving Balic for the roads heading west. His prices are fair, but his shop is cluttered. Even return customers usually have to ask him where to find what they are looking for. A former mercenary, Yelix traveling the tablelands under the pay of one merchant house or another, defending caravans and sometimes assaulting them. Twenty years ago, he met a particularly close call against a rather nasty defiler that changed his outlook on life. The gold and ceramics that he had collected over the years were not going to serve a dead man. So he decided to retire in a city that had good to him, and came to Balic to open his own business using the contacts he had acquired over the years. The dwarf is a talkative sort, and most people are a bit taken aback at this - they expect him to be dour and brusque. Through his years of traveling and trading, Yelix has learned that good communication is one of the skills that will bring back customers, and this has been the case.
