On the southern side of the city lies a series of buildings, abandoned and run down. The
white walls, which, not long ago, were pristine, now are cracked and dirty with neglect.
What once held the apartments of Andropinis’s senators is now a run down, virtually
abandoned series of buildings.
The senatorial apartment complex is actually four long rectangular buildings arranged to
form a square. In the middle is a plaza, an open area, and at the center of the plaza is a
fountain and well. Once, this area provided a place for the senators to relax after a days
proceedings in isolation from the cities bustle. Now, the fountain and well are both dry,
and the smoothly carved floor is covered with silt and dirt, broken occasionally by the
footprints of those unfortunate enough to have to live there.
Inside the apartments, conditions are the same. The walls are cracked and the rooms are
filled with varying layers of silt. The apartment consists of a kitchen/dining area, a living
room, a bedroom, and the slaves quarters, where the assistant to the senator slept.
Everything of value has since been taken, but the occasional piece of ruined furniture can
still be found, and some of the bedding is intact enough to sleep on.
The senatorial complex is protected by a high wall that has two entrances, one at the north
end, and one at the west. Templars once stood at these gates to prevent Balicans from
disturbing the senators, but this is no longer the case. Any who wish to enter are now free
to do so, though upstanding citizens, and those who wish to remain unharmed, generally
do not venture into this area, especially when the sun sets. No one in their right mind
normally comes here, only those too poor and desperate to go anywhere else. The
apartments are often home to dealings of those who rather remain anonymous, and to
hide their transactions from the eyes of the merchant house guards.
The area is currently possessed by House Rees, and they are in the process of determining
what the fate of the place will be. A strong view is to tear the buildings down and build
more warehouses or homes. Other want to offer the area to awealthy noble family. As of
now, the Rees family debates.
