Tar Pits & Treachery

Side Quest 3 between MQ 2 / MQ 3

When they reach the Ghodan Tar Mine the workers are preparing a caravan. It is being loaded with sails for silt skimmers.  These sails have been sealed with tar to delay the corrosive effect of the blowing silt. They are going to head out the next day to Cromlin they have recently been attacked by bandits so they suggest traveling together. They will pay 50gp for protection. They are told that Sion has the money and will give them it when they get to Cromlin (secretly she intends to steal the money and the money from the sale of the sails and go to Nibenay.)

That night they discover:

The pits are very profitable but are paying an extortionate price for their water and that's eating into their potential fortune.

That there is a merchant willing to pay a high price for halfling artefacts in Nibenay. Leading to High Prices for Halflings

Haltham Ghodan could see a day when his brother and co-owner was 'no longer around'. He insinuates he would pay handsomely for such an outcome, one that left him in sole possession of the mine.

If they get on well with the miners they will discover the goods they are selling were stolen from House M'ke and that means you could sell them to House of Shom but you'd have to stop House M'ke from finding out and they have House M'ke Pier next to the Pier of House Shom

The wagon will include Sion and Rant

During their journey to Cromlin she says she has a sister dying in Draj who she is keen to visit. (This is to throw the party off the scent when she later leaves on a ship but then makes her way to Nibenay with Rant

Rant will talk of a light he has seen above their heads a red light a blessing for their journey.
