Havord’s Fine Clothing

The templars of the White Palace had to properly represent the sorcerer-king in dealing with the public. Appearance was important to the officials, and ordinary hemp togas were not appropriate to the powerful templars. For such officials, Havord’s was the tailor of choice, and still is by many in Balic.

SECRETS

The front room of the store is twenty five feet wide and thirty feet deep. Stone hangers jut from the walls to display different styles of garments, the latest fashion among the Balican elite. The outer selection is limited to a dozen or so garments – Havord does not want the customer to see a cluttered shop. Wheeled racks are used by the staff to move a wider selection of clothing from the workshop to the showroom once the desires of the customer have been determined. Behind the waist-high counter lies the workshop where Havord and his staff of three work to create the garments renowned in Balic. As wide as the showroom but twice as long, the room is surprisingly organized considering the pace the workers must perform at to keep up with demand. Wide benches run along all the walls and four tables stand in the center. Shelves and cubby holes hold tools (such as needles and scissors), bits of fabric, and threads. A rack holds the bolts and rolls of cloth horizontally so the tailors can easily pull additional fabric to create their garments.
