Petra is the largest city in Aevira, with a population of a quarter million people. Humans make up about a third of that number, and gnomes are a sixth of it; the rest is a blend of every race found across Aevira. Halflings, half-elves, and dwarves all have a significant presence in the city, but even elves and teiflings have communities in Petra. Beyond the permanent population, thousands of people pass through Petra every day. Refugees from the Desolate Cascade found their way to the city, along with tourists, spies, merchants, and folk hoping to find their fortune in the grandest city in Aurora.

The city is made up of these four districts: WIP

The Stone Citadel

  • Home to House Valen, the seat of government and a symbol of Petra's power.
  • Dominated by the Lord's palace and the well-organized city guard, this district channels ambition into maintaining stability and expanding Petra’s influence.

The Scholar's District

  • Home to House Areyus, this district is a hub of learning and intellectual pursuit, attracting ambitious minds from across Aevira.
  • The Great Library, a treasure trove of knowledge, is located here, though access is meticulously regulated.
  • Prestigious academies shape Petra's future leaders, offering high-level education at a steep price.

The Grand Market

  • Home to House Serahn, this district is the commercial heart of Petra, filled with exotic goods from across Aurora.
  • Merchants fiercely compete for business, creating a vibrant yet cutthroat market environment.
  • Powerful guilds dominate the market, sometimes limiting options for smaller vendors and customers.

The Lower District

  • A maze of bustling streets and affordable housing, this district serves the working class.
  • While opportunities are limited, hard work and ingenuity are often rewarded, making it a district where resourcefulness can lead to success.
