Half-elves are most common across Wakova, as the city of Aegis was founded by the native elf and human settlers from the region. Within the Aegis Ascendancy and the Nexentrum Empire, half-elves don’t experience any more prejudice or bias than members of other races, and some half-elves could easily be mistaken for human. Half-elves are well-liked by some elves, seeing them as a symbol of the growth between human and elf, strengthening their ever-dwindling population. However, some of the remaining elves of the Aetherii Empire hold the outdated view that human blood dilutes the "superior" magical elven blood and call half-elves "othlir", meaning "ill-born". As such, half-elves rarely hold prominence to their remaining ancestry. Half-elves of dwarven ancestry can be found, fostered by the union of dwarves and elves that fled there during the Desolate Cascade. Such children are also known as attalwen, meaning "two-hearted".
