• There will always be a light shining in darkness, you just have to have the courage to find it.
  • Every mortal soul can find the light. Inspire and guide others to virtuous behavior; force is a last resort.
  • Act with compassion and courage. Each noble act is a step on the path.

It is said that Lolth had her two children Eilistraee and Vhaeraun shackled to the deepest parts of the Underdark for disobeying her. There, the two vowed to break free from their shackles to allow their people to prosper once more without the tyrannical reign of their mother. With the assistance of Vandria of the Seldarine, the two escaped their prison and rebelled against the rest of the Dark Seldarine. The three learned the ways of the Underdark and discovered new ways to grant it light.

Created by a group of drow that escaped the reign and terror of Lolth and her worshipers, the New Dark teaches that the Underdark is dominated by those who would seek to exploit others. But all things change. If enough light can enter the Underdark, it will lead to a shift: the age of Lolth will end and usher in a new era of peace and prosperity.

Some followers of the faith believe that prayer alone is sufficient to change the path of the world, that merely contemplating the light is sufficient to bring about the change. Most believe that it is necessary to take action, but the light must never fight the darkness.

Violence is never the answer, and the only way to defeat evil is to redeem it. Lightbringers seek to inspire those who live in fear and enlighten those whose evil is driven by ignorance. Being the youngest faith in Aurora, splinter sects advocate for greater action. These shadow watchers believe that evil must be fought, that sources of darkness that poison Underdark communities can and should be ruthlessly eliminated.
