The Gloomstalk
From the outside the forest is dark and looming, while the sun shines outside of the forest, it struggles to pierce the interior of the forest. The giant willow trees droope low and their leaves are dark green. The forest floor that you can see is dark and marshlike with pools of water scattered around.
To the Lake
For the parties who are more adventurous and want to go exploring, the path to the lake is the most dangerous but the most intriguing path to Xilune. Traveling this path is incredibly dangerous and a vast majority of the people who dare to take this path often end up going missing.
This part of the lake is heavily infested with a variety of strong monsters. Driders and their spawns such as Chitines, Choldrith’s, and giant spiders occupy the tree lines around the lake. Hobgoblins occupy the old lakefront town which is located near the south west edge of the lake. Hobgoblins, Devastators, Iron Shadows, and Warlords use the town as a home base. The town is also filled with Goblins who the Hobgoblins lord over.
Lake Zoe
Located in the Gloomstalk Forest, the lake gets its name from a tragedy that happened there 56 years prior. (565 AC) One afternoon, a family had gone to the lake for an afternoon picnic. While enjoying their lunch the mother and father had taken their eyes off their young daughter just long enough for the daughter to wander into the lake. It was too late when the family noticed and the daughter had already drowned by the time the father made it to her body. Following the tragedy the lake was named after her, Zoe.
No one is sure why Zoe wandered into the lake on her own, she was around 5 years old and was smart enough and aware enough to know that she could not swim and needed help. Speculation soon sprang up accusing the family of murdering their child or even someone murdering the child and using the lake as a cover up but there is an even more sinister truth to the situation.
