The village is built amongst towering pine trees, their branches enshrouded in ethereal fog, casting a perpetual twilight over the settlement. Lanterns, crafted from enchanted crystals, hang from branches, providing a soft, otherworldly glow that illuminates the winding paths.
The buildings of Whispering Pines are a blend of natural and constructed elements. Cabins fashioned from timber and woven vines blend seamlessly with the forest surroundings, while more elaborate structures, such as the Great Hall, are carved directly into the massive trunks of ancient trees. Bridges of twisted roots span narrow streams that wind through the village, connecting its various districts.
The villagers are primarily lycanthropes of various kinds: werewolves, werebears, wereboars, and more. They have sought refuge in this secluded haven to live among their own kind without fear of persecution or violence. Despite their predatory nature, the residents of Whispering Pines are bound by a strict code that prohibits them from hunting within the forest or harming outsiders, lest they draw unwanted attention to their sanctuary.
The village is led by a council of elders, composed of the oldest and most respected members of the lycanthrope community. Each major were-species is represented on the council, ensuring that the interests of all residents are heard and considered. Decisions regarding the village's affairs, such as security, trade, and diplomacy with neighboring settlements, are made collectively by the council.
