History
The Netheranian Waterway is a ship canal that connects the Western Ocean and the Netheranian Sea. It was built at the same time as the coastal city Netheran in 478 on behalf of Queen Yalanka I.
The canal should make the eastern part of the Human Empire more accessible with ships and avoid the detour around the archipelago of the southern empire.
In 498, the Trade Guild constructed the city of Zakka at the eastern entry of the waterway to collect travel fees for passing ships that want to use the canal.
In 512, the fishing town of Kazza was founded as sister-town of Zakka.

Construction
The construction of the waterway was a huge project that only took two month. Wizards from all over the empire - proficient in earth magic - were hired to carve a 8 mile (13km) long, 650 ft (200m) wide and 26 ft (8m) deep.
Canal Crossings

The Laeglands Pass is so far the only bridge that allows travelers to cross the canal on foot or by mount.
Various fishermen also offer passage via boat (for a small fee).
