Entry.070 - The Nightmare of Izlope

The group waits for the night outside of Izlope while observing it from high ground. While they wait, their prisoner Adra makes her escape. The players try to catch up with her but she uses a magical ice storm to escape into a nearby forest.

Jeff and Florian enter the town Izlope once again at night and break into the upper levels of the hostel "The Tired Traveler". With a ladder, they enter a room on the first floor through the window and find that in every room, the inventory has been dragged into the staircase. Only scratchmarks and a weird, dried, slime-like substance is left over. They also find out that there must also be a basement with books and other items inside.

After making some noise, the hostel owners approach the players and invite them to come inside through the main door. The two players stand outside and keep their distance, see through the bullshit of the owners who slowly lose their temper and reveal that they and at least half the town are either being controlled by one entity or are part of one entity that presents itself as the owner of this town. The entity speaks through these villagers and explains them that it knows what the players seek and is willing to give them information in exchange for being left alone. The players somewhat agree to that and receive information that Abraxas has shared history with the entity, that Abraxas has or previously had a hideout in the ruins of Dreya in the desert and that the female wizard that the group captured a day ago was unknowingly also looking for Abraxas. The entity gives the players the diary of Adra and suggests them to now leave the village, never return and never to speak of it again.


Axel and Qizenya are meanwhile still waiting outside of the village. When the other return, they tell what has happened. Qizenya tells them that in his opinion, they should not fear the entity which is probably just a wizard trained in illusion and mind control that manipulated the players into thinking it's some powerful creature while in reality that wizard just fears the players and wants them out of the village, giving them information the players already knew after probably just reading their minds. Not completely convinced of that theory but seeing some sort of plausibility, the players decide to leave for the desert at dawn.

Florian reads in Adras journal and finds out that she is a daughter of a rich family of war mages named "Crimsonwolf". Adra was looking for an artifact that was stolen from the family some seasons ago, a magical sword forged ages ago in Dreya, that was a famous city of mages and magical items, built on top of a Proto-Titan grave. The inhabitants built some sort of undercity to the remains of these titans and crafted artifacts out of their bones and magic crystals. But the city got destroyed in the Book: The Titan Wars. Archeologists still venture into the desert and try to find artifacts there, but in the last few years, the desert has become more and more dangerous. Adra writes that she magically tracked down traces of the stolen sword - that seems to be powerful enough to even kill immortal titans - into the desert.

The next day, the group descends into the rift that splits Izlope where an old man lends them three riding lizards to traverse the desert.
