Haunted by their imperfection because of their inability to fly, Ironbeaks mask their crippled bodies with heavy armor.
Masters of Iron
Living in the barren wastelands of the Ironhayn Republic, the Ironbeaks together with Humans (Ironhumans) are masters of
metalwork. Their lands are filled with ferrous vegetation, their
mountains overflowing with rich iron deposits, the Ironbeaks want to
make profit of their resources. Most of their common folk are either
working in the underground mines, working on the ironfields or craft
weapons and armor.
Their culture brings forth great warriors, armed with the best blades and protected by bird-like armor - the Samurai. But also other folk is wearing the protective armor in public - as their believe in The Metal Bird dictates.
Dreams of Flight
Above all else, Ironbeaks wish to gain the ability to fly. Every Ironbeak is born with a desire to take to the air, and those who learn spellcasting do so in hope of mastering spells that will allow them to fly. Rumors of magic items such as flying carpets, brooms capable of flight, and similar objects provoke a great desire for the Ironbeak to acquire the items for themselves.
Despite their lack of wings, Ironbeak love dwelling in towers and other tall structures. Paradox enough, the majority of Ironbeaks live below the surface of the Ironhayn where a vast network of caves connects the various mines and larger cities and protects them from the harsh winds of the surface land.
Ironbeak Adventurers
Ironbeak adventurers are usually samurai warriors looking for a challenge or iron traders eager to make money in other dominions. These Ironbeaks are more ambitious and daring than their fellows. Others strike out on their own in search of the secrets of flight or to master magic.
Ironbeak adventurers, despite their relative independence, still have a tendency to seek out a companion to emulate and follow.
