Entry.143 - The Room of Many Orbs

November 14, 2023

A long nights rest refreshes your bodies and minds from the exhausting journey in the elemental plane of fire. In the middle of the night, Egbert experiences an epic tale of how the King of Ashes sealed away a great danger once.

You start the new day with breakfast, made by your housekeeper Diana, while Janna takes a ride on Sylvie through the skies above the city. You send Florian to the iron army hangout spot north of Zeantis, which is having the programmed sunday gathering, and tell him to command them to dig themselves into the ground and wait for further instructions.

Meanwhile, the rest of you go shopping in the Ninth Life, the biggest magical artefact store not that far away from your HQ. You meet Carl, the new shopkeep that was previously owner of a high-profile swinger club. He gives you the contact information of the new Prime Minister, an old client of his, and collector of powerful and rare items. You hope to sell your giant crystal sphere thing that you "found" in the Hellwasp Desert. But first, you trade the Won Ring and gold against a new plate armor for Happy.

After returning to the I.R.A. Headquarters, you decide not to open the door to the Room of Many Doors here in your home, fearing that Janna might peek in and trigger traps. You instead rent a hotel room in a nearby establishment for the week and enter the extraplanar library of knowledge and wonders through the tiny bathroom of your hotel room.

Inside, you do your best not to trigger any traps or touch anything tempting, and successfully make your way to the conjuratory of the lorekeeper. You investigate the strange contraption holding orbs of every color, lifted by clawed marble hands coming out of a pedestal. After some attempts to use silver orb, and some brainstorming sessions later, Egbert solves the question of how to use it by inserting his hands into the silver ball, pulling out a fragment of dragon tooth from inside. With it, you are able to summon Amón in his dragon form into the giant chamber, who arrives still distorted and stretched. It takes a while, supported by Happy's healing and some health potions of Drem, but  the Lorekeeper is finally able to snap out of the effects of the temporal anomaly, returning somewhat exhausted into his humanoid form.

He greets and thanks you dearly, while you start to catch him up to what has happened in his absence...
