Cartion

Appearance: Grey gaunt skin pulled tight over their skeleton. Their eyes are pale and their iris lacks any pigmentation. Their Bones are hallow similar to birds, with pockets of air in their bones. They stand above average human height and weigh 40kg-60kg on average. They cannot grow hair, their voice boxes are generally very course. Limbs may been seen bending in excessive or 'extra' angles.

Biology: Cartions have evolved on space hulks, where gravity is low and radiation is high. Leading to naturally high radiation resistance, double jointed limbs to maneuver in low to no gravity environments on space hulks. The long term radiation exposure has ruined them biologically, rendering 1/6 of every new child sterile, with an increasing rate of sterility. Their immune system is effectively non existent meaning they suffer greatly from cancers and disease. However this also means they suffer no cybernetic implant rejection, and are free to replace their flesh with unfailing machine.

Culture: Cartions having no cybernetic rejection and failing flesh, reliance on life support technology, lead to them developing a techno faith. That one day a god, not of celestial, eldritch or mortal origin, but of silicon and steel, will save their people and bring them to salvation. Many Cartion practice making their own cybernetics and have a 'butcher' (cybernetic surgeon specialist) implant them. Working class Cartion will apply drills, hydraulic clamps and grips, welding tools, saws, scythes, chemical laboratory tools to their existing limbs or added limbs. Cartions who defend their respective ships or seek to plunder from other working Cartions will apply any of the following modifications, added hydraulic muscles, saws, robotic leg stilts, electrically heated blades, flame/acid throwers. Many Cartion will also outright replace skin with plasteel cured to retain a degree of flexibility, or organs with medical grade bionics (some even adding new bionic organs).

History: Though their ancient origins are unknown, it is suspected they are decedents ancient human or other bipedal sapient. They have rarely been seen outside of their occasional Space hulks, though there are large communities of them seen in the deepest layers of factory worlds where no (small planets entirely converted into a factory).
