Biography
Background
Volassmir was once a revered member of the Diathan, the council of gods tasked with maintaining cosmic balance and nurturing the mortal realms. His initial commitment to the Diathan’s ideals gradually waned as he became convinced that prioritizing mortals weakened the gods' supremacy, potentially sowing seeds of chaos across the cosmos. This internal conflict within the pantheon about the role of mortals in the universe created deep divisions among the gods, eventually leading to the explosive Diathan War.
Volassmir, feeling betrayed by the Diathan’s favoritism towards mortals, did not spark the war but became a significant participant, aligning himself with the Odelates. This faction of gods shared his belief in divine superiority and the need for a strict hierarchical order with gods at the apex. The war was fierce, pitting divine beings against each other, reshaping the landscape of power among the gods.
Despite his and the Odelates' valiant efforts, they were ultimately defeated. As a consequence of his role in the conflict, Volassmir was banished to the Nine Hells, a realm he would transform into a reflection of his ideals—structured, disciplined, and under unyielding control.
Worshipers
Volassmir's followers include those drawn to the darker aspects of magic and power. Warlocks and sorcerers seek him out for his deep knowledge of the arcane and the secrets of dominion and subjugation. His worship is clandestine, often shrouded in secrecy, with rituals that embrace the themes of power over others and the pursuit of personal ascendancy.
Devils and other malevolent beings of the Nine Hells worship Volassmir, acknowledging his supremacy and his protection against celestial forces. His mortal cults, hidden from mainstream society, are often found in places permeated with power struggles, such as political centers or regions of unrest, where his philosophy of strict control and order finds fertile ground.
His temples on the mortal plane are concealed, filled with rich depictions of his horned visage, bathed in dim, red light to mimic the ambiance of his infernal realm. Rituals in these temples are intense, focusing on personal empowerment, the subjugation of enemies, and the iron-clad will to dominate all opposition.
