Description:
Saberfang Cats are large, sleek predators with muscular bodies and short, tawny fur that helps them blend into the tall grasses and rocky outcroppings of their habitat. Their most striking feature is their long, curved saber-like fangs that extend from their upper jaws, used for delivering powerful killing bites. They have sharp, retractable claws and strong legs, making them exceptional climbers and fast runners. Their golden eyes are keen, providing excellent night vision.
Habitat:
Saberfang Cats primarily inhabit the Asparalo Grasslands and the rocky foothills of nearby mountain ranges. They prefer areas with dense vegetation for cover while hunting, though they can often be found lounging on higher ground, such as rocky cliffs or boulders, where they have a clear view of their territory. They frequently travel between the grasslands and mountainous regions, following the herds of prey animals.
Behavior:
These cats are solitary hunters, relying on stealth and ambush tactics to catch prey. They stalk their prey—often Dusk Deer or Plains Bison calves—through the tall grass, moving silently until they are close enough to deliver a sudden, powerful leap. Their saber-like teeth are perfect for piercing through the thick hides of large prey. Saberfang Cats are also highly territorial and will fiercely defend their hunting grounds from other predators. While they are solitary, they are incredibly intelligent and adaptable, with a reputation for avoiding larger packs of predators like Highland Wolves.
