The proprieter of The Midnight Train, Gladys was once known as the "Empress of Soul" for her magnificent singing voice. After retirement she opened the Midnight Train in order for to have a stage but also keep an eye on her adopted family, known as the Pips, who had gotten into illicit activities around the city.
