The Jade Foxes were hired by Mayor Strahl Crowclaw of Pilgrim's Rest, to investigate what was preying on their cattle. Asking around the village, they followed track to a nearby hillside and found the creature in question was a cockatrice. However it had been experimented on, and it had a dragonshard embedded in its throat. It was also noticed that it was chained to a nearby rock; it had obviously been sent here on purpose.
Despatching the creature quickly, the Jade Foxes returned to Pilgrim's Rest to find the village in flames, and they were attacked by unknown assailants. As soon as the battle was over, the Jade Foxes found themselves surrounded by guards led by Arramis Quinn, who accused them of causing the destruction. He sent soldiers to summon the local landowner, Dalgrim ir'Dain, but reluctantly allowed the Jade Foxes to search the ruins of the village to provide evidence of their innocence. Canton Busby evaded arrest by turning invisible, and lurked in a ruin in case he was needed.
The Jade Foxes first searched the bodies of the assailants, and found that they recognised some of them - they were former members of the Jade Foxes, and had all left the organisation with Masque. In one of the buildings, a corpse was found with a Letter found on body in 'Framed' quest. on it, implicating the actions of the Aurum. A small vial that smelt of sulfur was found; this was used by one of the attackers to burn the houses down. Finally, when pushed Arramis Quinn acted suspiciously, especially when questioned on how quickly he reached the village with guards.
On the arrival of Dalgrim ir'Dain, Rahl Morninglow presented the evidence and was able to convince the lord of their innocence. After protests, it became clear to him that Arramis Quinn had been part of a plot to frame the Jade Foxes.
