King Boranel was the King of Breland. The Jade Foxes were hired to recover important trade documents vital for his upcoming negotiations with Queen Aurala of Aundair from a House Kundarak vault (JF07. Under The Bank, JF08. Into The Vault). Later, they encountered him during Masque's assassination attempt while he travelled to meet Queen Aurala (JF12. Attempt On The King).
The trade talks eventually collapsed due to a series of assassinations along the border, which were a clear attempt to destabilise the fragile peace that existed (Sharn Inquisitive Issue on Border Tensions).
Along with Oargev ir'Wynarn, they organised a thousand strong expedition into The Mournland (SY01. The Promised Land) to discover the cause of The Day of Mourning and look for a way to reverse it, as well as investigate rumours of the Lord of Blades.
