Selene d'Lyrandar was born in Stormhome, the island that serves as the House Lyrandar seat of power, in 966YK. She was raised in service to House Lyrandar, and expected to follow in her parents' footsteps - both held minor administrative roles within the Raincaller's Guild in Stormhome.
All that changed on Selene's sixteenth birthday, when her dragonmark manifested on her left hand - the first time that a dragonmark had appeared in her lineage for five generations. Selene underwent significant training, and quickly found that her connection with her dragonmark let her instinctively cast magic.
She formally entered service to House Lyrandar in 986YK at the age of twenty, initially serving on a number of transport galleons based out of Stormhome. Soon after the creation of the first airships in 990YK, Selene was accepted as an apprentice aboard the Storm's Grace, under the command of Captain Fenric d'Lyrandar. The Storm's Grace served as a troop transport during the last few years of the Last War. It did not participate directly in battles, but the crew did see combat occasionally, mostly from pirates, flying creatures and those foolish enough not to respect the neutrality of House Lyrandar.
Not long after the end of The Last War, Selene was appointed as the airship's pilot, a position that she has held ever since. The Storm's Grace has been continually in service to House Lyrandar in a variety of roles - such as transporting goods and carrying expeditions to far-flung lands. Selene is happy in her current position, but her hope for the future is that she can one day command her own airship - either the Storm's Grace as Fenric d'Lyrandar chosen successor, or another one in the service of House Lyrandar.
In early 1000YK, the Storm's Grace was hired by legendary explorer Lord Boroman ir'Dayne for an expedition to the Glowing Chasm, deep within The Mournland. The expedition was successful, but the Storm's Grace took heavy damage from the strange magic that inhabits the area. Desperately in need of repairs, Captain Fenric d'Lyrandar brought the airship to Korth, capital of the nation of Karrnath. There the Storm's Grace faces several months of repairs; the crew was given shore-leave. Selene decided to use the time to spend some time away from her crewmates, and found herself drawn into a new adventure within Korth.
Her adventures there led Selene to a new group of friends that she greatly enjoyed adventuring with, namely Bludak Mal K'shaar, Elias Minch, Daellin and Smith. However when Fenric d'Lyrandar was injured during a battle over The Demon Wastes, Selene stepped back from her adventuring to temporarily take command of the airship, overseeing the repairs that were badly needed once again. With the Storm's Grace in dire need of Nightwood, a specific wood that was easily enchantable and therefore crucial to helping keep the airship in the air, she hired her friends to find out what was disrupting the shipments from the Stirk Lumberyard to the north.
Her friends able to stop The Last Legion that were raiding the Nightwood shipments, and after several intense weeks of repairs, Selene invited her friends, along with their new companion Arc, to join her on board the Storm's Grace as it journeyed south to Sharn. There she was asked to take part in some negotiations on behalf of House Lyrandar as it sought to expand it's operations there; eager to take on more responsibility as proof of her ability to command, Selene eagerly accepted the assignment.
However a letter from an old friend, Max Murock, soon drew Selene and her friends back into adventure in Sharn. She had several enjoyable months with her friends, and the House of Storm were in particular very interested in what the group learned about the mysterious continent of Riedra. Upon their return from there, however, Selene was needed by her House once again. She therefore did not join her friends when Palavan asked for their help finding a Dark Lantern traitor; instead, she commanded the Storm's Grace as it assisted House Cannith in their attempt to send expeditions deep into the jungles of Xen'drik.
Selene had returned to Sharn when her friends were asked to investigate the deaths of the warforged in Blackbones. However she did not join them when Arc was asked to investigate the missing Dark Cabinet agent at Vinehold Manor, as the Karrnathi government did not trust her ties to House Lyrandar, who were somehow involved in the affair. Instead, they arranged for the Storm's Grace to be out of Sharn, so Selene was unable to accompany her friends once again.
Eventually, Selene accepted permanent command of the Storm's Grace, and quickly gained a reputation for taking the airship into the unknown. Under her command, the Storm's Grace ventured into The Mournland, travelled to Riedra, and even mounted an expedition to the Frostfell. Her friends saw little of her, but occasionally saw mention of her in the newspapers, as she sought to always find new horizons to head towards.
