Hale is a young researcher for House Cannith, in the employ of Felicia d'Cannith. She is part of the archaeological dig on Tokomara. The team there had been trying to break into the facility that the ancient Giant civilisation had build into a meteorite that had fallen to the island millennia ago; but the team were first attacked by pirates, and then by The Gatekeepers. She fled into the meteorite, but tripped on the Giant-sized stairs, and was unconscious until she was found by the crew of The Demon's Mercy.
She is determined to uncover the secrets left behind by the Giants, so that House Cannith will have justification for gaining a foothold in Shargon's Teeth.
She also intends to return to Morgrave University to complete her doctoral studies.
