With the death of Putin, the Russian Federation fails to find a leader capable of inspiring nationalist fervor sufficiently to accept its stagnating economy. In response to rising civil unrest, the new leaders up the tempo of foreign [invasions, what’s the word] and clamp down on domestic dissent. The RF descends into true fascism, and gets mired in a disastrous invasion of the Ukraine as Estonia and Finland provide covert support. The European Union generally continues to contain the RF’s ambitions.
