Forward operating bases in Iraq & Afghanistan are mired in new insurgencies, and operations in Pakistan bleed over into India when the latter is found to be providing proxy support to Iran in order to make things harder for Pakistan. The covert war to counteract Indian involvement is extensive and is part of the pressure that led to India's transition to Hindustan.
Israel takes the opportunity to violently annex all of Palestine, citing their supposed covert support for Iran.
Syria is dragged into the conflict in Iraq, and by extension Turkey joins against them, seeking a land grab.
Russia is also involved by proxy, against US efforts in Iran, but also seeking to contain Syria again.
