Early Anti-Surveillance Culture

Culture

Early Anti-Surveillance Culture generally grew on par with the surveillance state in the relatively Libertarian US, but had a large overlap with ConspiracyTheoryCulture, and tended to lack critical experts with inside knowledge of surveillance.

One of the only credible whistleblowers during this era was Perry Fellwock, who revealed the existence of the National Security Agency (NSA) in 1971. But this was simply brushed under the rug at the Church Committee, and Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) was a damn joke but let's not get off track here. His drop should have been huge, but the mainstream didn't seem terribly concerned about it.

Late Anti-Surveillance Culture began with the Snowden Leaks its foremost proponent one of the architects of that surveillance.
