Genetics

In the early stages of Gary, genetic diversity was as high as in any city in the US. As reproduction became more strictly controlled by Gary (Regime), that diversity began rapidly vanishing. If one person is tall and light-colored, they are partnered with someone short and dark-colored to try to eliminate those differences.

Genetic disorders due to inbreeding are an increasingly common problem, and the Regime expends a lot of effort in identifying those for elimination. Sometimes Gary is born with horrible disfigurations, whereupon they are designated TooGary (Race).

Life Cycle

When Gary is born, their gametes and genitalia are surgically extracted and stored in the Gary (Genetic Administration Agency), where their product is extracted and stored for later use.

All reproduction and incubation is done by the Regime in artificial wombs. Gary is not notified of paternity or maternity, as those concepts are forgotten in Gary.

Gary enjoys a full diet of Sôylet as mandated by the Regime.

Biological Variation

Sexual dimorphism has been all but eliminated due to the early extraction of gametes. The Regime is working on inducing intersexed phenotypes from birth in order to truly standardize humanity.

Individual variations are all but extinct. Gary is always within 2 inches of the average height, and their eye and skin colors tend toward a uniform medium brown.

Psychology

From all outward appearances, Gary isn't capable of individual thought. All actions are chosen according to the demands of the regime, and the resulting strong social pressure to conformity.

Gary hates time alone. It is during time alone that they cannot gauge the appropriateness of their actions according to what is the norm.
