Gary is a uniform structure that constitutes the entirety of the buildings in Gary (City-State), except for Gary (Central Structure). They are externally identical, and their interiors vary only as much as is absolutely necessary for infrastructure. Any variations in construction are hidden from public view*. The design is mixed-use, each building combining residential and industrial functions in identical proportions throughout the city.

Substructures

Residential Levels

The top majority of the Residential levels are subdivided into perfectly identical units, each assigned randomly to a citizen at the end of the workday by Gary (Economic System), in a fashion identical to the allocation of work duties.

The lowermost levels are reserved for the TooGary (Race) population, and often have accessibility upgrades - a rare deviation from the norm of norms - signifying their accepted outsider status.

Amenity Levels

The Amenity levels are subdivided into a kitchen, mess hall, and physical fitness center.

Atrium

The ground level of Gary is a mostly open space with elevators and stairs to the various other floors. The open area is something of an Agora, having seating arranged in a social manner, though most citizens prefer to keep social interactions to a minimum. Still, they consider it a social duty to spend some time in the Atria, to set a good example for ReGary citizens.

ReGary

Main article: ReGary (Penal Colony)

The first basement level is reserved for ReGary interstices, with grates to allow penitents to observe the good citizens in the Atrium level.

Transit Station

Each building has a transit station in its second basement level, connecting the city in a perfectly uniform grid network. Each station is connected to Gary (Central Structure) in a hub-and-spoke network that would be incredibly inefficient if it weren't so strictly regimented.

Infrastructural Levels

Each Gary has its own power station, and water & sewage treatment facilities. These are located in the third through fourth basement levels. An astonishingly wasteful duplicity of machinery, but Gary is not a particularly sane place.
