Earl Koarch and Baron Koarch were the Co-Overseers of the Administration of Lunar Station Simultas until a petty personal rift came between them. They had decided they wanted Luna to revolve (maybe for the view?), but couldn't agree on whether to make it spin clockwise or counterclockwise. They directed the station's thrusters in opposite directions, which cracked the moon neatly in half. They moved to orbit opposite sides of Earth A so they'd never have to see each other again.
