Below the Lower Canopy and above the Pseudofloor of the Temperate Boduan Forest is a layer where no flora other than the Mother Lomoi (Boduan) itself is tall enough to reach. This layer consists mostly of branchless trunks, and can be as much as two miles in total height. As almost no light reaches past the canopy, and the trunks are spaced miles apart, one generally only sees a void when they look around them. On the brightest days, or if bordering a clearing (usually a lake), you might get enough light to see distant trunks. If you shout, you may hear a faint echo from other trunks.
The Void is the primary population center of the Haaru, who primitively built their buildings on Nelem (Stereoconk), and later inside excavated trunks. In both stages of architecture, they built large cities that made history without ever touching the ground.
