Canopy Avalanche

The branches of Magnacedars are wide enough to hold a lot of snow. For this reason, communities that have the means to do so will generally prefer to live in trunk excavations where avalanche poses zero risk. But due to the hard, stony character of Magnacedar bark, this requires good tools and a lot of work.

Avalanche is a primary concern in regions subject to it. Building exposed structures is simply not an option, as the pure verticality of the snowfall gives it catastrophic momentum. As avoiding snowfall completely is a necessary element of design, the roofs in these regions tend to be flatter than those that get moderate snow, where a strong peaked style is preferred.
