Bodue has a preeminent position in potamology (and some other fields besides) throughout the Intergalactic Community (IGC). It has one of the most dynamic river systems of any known planet due to the sub-geological timescale of the change of landscape, due to falling or growing Mother Lomoi (Boduan). It also has native life without the external aid of a Colony Population or Geneseeds. It also has active plate tectonics. On top of all of this, it is experiencing an uncharacteristically stable period, allowing long-term research and slow experimentation.

Haaru ShortTreeFolk(Rename) have a tradition of cultivating rivers through damming, since theirs is practically the only area on Bodue not subject to massive flooding.
